Discover the endangered heritage craft of making Corn Dollies, which has deep roots in rural life in this relaxing, hands on workshop. Guided by Sally Murdoch, one of the few remaining tutors in the South of England, you’ll learn to plait and weave beautifully prepared straw to create a range of festive corn dolly decorations, perfect for your Christmas tree or as thoughtful handmade gifts.
Corn dollies were traditionally made as harvest tokens, closely tied to the turning seasons. As you work, you’ll hear the stories and symbolism behind the designs, and enjoy a calming, creative escape from the bustle of the modern Christmas period. This workshop is beginner friendly, and no prior experience is necessary.
