Could you be our new Treasurer? We are looking for a committed, enthusiastic, prudent individual to oversee the finances of Whitchurch Silk Mill Trust.
Our current Treasurer is retiring from the Board of Trustees; the Trust will lose a long-serving member who regularly provides the Board and Mill Director with valuable advice on various matters. So, we are now looking to appoint a Trustee to provide expertise in this field.
You do not need to have held a formal Treasurer role before (though if you have – great!). However, you will be good with figures and familiar with accountancy and financial management basics. You may be an accountant or bookkeeper or run your own local business.
Here’s what Kevin Wheeler, our current Treasurer, says about his time on the Board:
It has been a privilege to serve on the Board of Trustees for 9 years. I have had a very interesting, if sometimes challenging, time. The Mill staff are a pleasure to work and spend time with, as are the Trustees and the rest of the volunteers.
The Mill is a fascinating place and I have had the privilege of helping it through a period of amazing transformation with a £2 Million Lottery project. This gave me a great insight into Lottery and Government funding.
Being a Trustee and Treasurer throughout the pandemic was one of the challenges and I do not wish that upon my successor!
Kevin Wheeler, Treasurer of Whitchurch Silk Mill Trust
I will continue to be involved with the Mill as a Volunteer and will be available for advice to the new Treasurer – but only when asked!
