Textile Workshops and Events Programme 2023

By admin 18.11.2022

We want to share the excellent skills of our weavers with you! We’re excited to release a programme of textile workshops for 2023, perfect for those wishing to learn a new hobby, or as a gift for the arty crafter in your life.

Weaving is one of the earliest technologies, with evidence suggesting it originated as early as 27,000 years ago, and it is now a popular heritage craft. A heritage craft is defined as ‘a practice which employs manual dexterity and skill and an understanding of traditional materials, design and techniques, and which has been practised for two or more successive generations’, and we hope that we can continue passing on this knowledge for many years to come.

Our Textile Workshops Programme

Our workshops are aimed at complete novices to practised weavers.

The Intro to Frame Loom Weaving workshop is perfect for someone without any prior knowledge of weaving. You will leave the session understanding how cloth is created from warp and weft, and take away your very own hand woven piece of textile.

For those who want to advance their weaving skills on a more advanced 16-shaft floor loom, we have a three-week one-to-one course where you will be guided through the whole weaving process from warping to finishing.

Book on to our half day Weave a Wall Hanging session to create a beautiful woven art piece on our pre warped 16-shaft floor loom.

Fibre art lovers will find a new obsession in Natural Dyeing. Experiment with different techniques and colours to create some fabulous fibres ready to use in your own projects at home.

Shows a 16 shaft floor loom, currently empty, ready for Weave a Wallhanging textile workshops
