The Hutchence – Whitchurch Silk scarf

A monochrome colourway of our ‘Sophia’ silk released earlier this year, it seemed only fitting this silk be named ‘Hutchence’, the maiden name of Sophia Whipp. Sophia, then Hutchence alongside her two sisters, were silk winders and employed as child workers in the early days of the Mill. By 1851, Sophia had married William Whipp, the staffman at the Mill, before they moved to the cottages next door. Sophia spent her entire working life as a silk worker, a career of some 60 years.

A striking range of monochrome scarves, hand finished in house, the perfect statement piece to dress up an outfit. Please call 01256 892065 to discuss available colours or order will be selected at random. Woven dimensions approx. 45cm x 180cm. Price includes Whitchurch Silk box.
