In advance of contributing to our winter 'Made in the Hood' exhibition, Christine Highnett will be leading this workshop, helping you to make your own handmade silk paper, ready to beautifully embellish a glass vase.
You will learn the technique to make silk paper, by combining silk mulberry tops with a textile bonding agent. This gives a colourful textured silk paper. Following this, you will then place the paper on organza or other fabric and and use it to cover a glass vase. Finally, you will finish it, with a variety of hand embroidery and beadwork for embellishment. No previous skills are necessary, suitable for all abilities. All materials will be provided.
