Have you ever thought about the history yet to be discovered in our rivers and what mud larkers do?
mud lark noun
1: a person who grubs in mud (as in search of stray bits of coal, iron, rope)
Join us on the 9th of July for a day of discovery with mud larker My Ordinary Treasure, and friends, at Whitchurch Silk Mill. Learn how they scour the bed of the River Test to discover treasures lost over the centuries and have a go yourself from the riverbank, or recreate some of the finds with our paper plate mosaic craft activity.
You’ll also be able to contribute to an upcoming exhibition at the Mill by helping us “weave a river”. Try out weaving on our hand loom to help grow our community made art piece. Why not bring along some river coloured scraps of any weavable materials from around the house (textile, plastic bags etc.) to really add your stamp to our woven story of the River Test.
Free admission to event in Mill grounds (Mill access not included).
