We are pleased to welcome Basingstoke Creative Stitchers back to the Mill, after their successful exhibition two years ago.
Formerly Basingstoke Embroiderers’ Guild, Basingstoke Creative Stitchers was born during lockdown and to date have 40 members.
They are a diverse group who embrace and promote working in a wide variety of techniques and media including 2D and 3D producing framed pictures, hangings and items for display. Pieces will vary from items in the palm of a hand to large wallhangings. Traditional embroidery techniques such as blackwork and goldwork sit comfortably alongside more contemporary textile and mixed media art pieces. Traditional embroidery has a timeless appeal, while more contemporary textile and mixed media art pieces attract new audiences.
They plan to steward the exhibition each day, so plenty of opportunities to see demonstrations and discuss the exhibits with group members. They are a diverse group, so a repeat visitor is likely to see something new whenever they visit during the exhibition.
