National Mills Weekend 2024

In celebration of the engineers and millwrights who built and now restore and maintain Whitchurch Silk Mill, Nigel Spender of G & H Spender, will be here to talk about the recent conservation of the Mill’s historic waterwheel.

At the Mill the engineering and original machinery is very much in evidence. The working waterwheel turns, harnessing the power of the River Test, while skilled silk weavers use the historic tappet and dobby looms. Nigel will be on had to talk about the many crafts used to preserve the Grade Two* Listed Regency Water Wheel and the critically endangered craft of Mill Wrighting.

Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May 2024, from 10.30 am to 5.00 pm.
Included with admission or annual pass.
