Childrens' half term activities

27/28/29 May - Silk painting,felt making and weavin
g

5 - 7, 12 - 14, 19 - 21 & 26 - 28 August - Chinese silk painting, silk painting flags, kimono peg dolls

All activities start at 11.30am and finish at 3.30pm
Prices range from £2.50 -£5.50 per person, normal admission prices apply. Children should be accompanied by adults. No booking is required

Other Activities

Saturday 11 May 10.30am - 4pm National Mill's Weekend. Andover Amateur Radio Club will give visitors the opportunity to talk to people at other mills across the world- sun spots permitting. There is no cost for this activity. Normal admission applies.

Wednesday 14 May 4.30 - 6.00pm Alison Carter, Senior Keeper of Art and Design will be presenting a talk "So becomingly important the dress of fops and dandies?" Tickets £5.00 and £4.00 for Friends of Whitchurch Silk Mill.

Saturday 7 June Weaving workshops on hand looms with Angela Pawlyn 11.00am -1.00pm.

Sunday 6th July 12.00-3.00pm 'Wind.Water,Fire and Mirth' Hampshire Youth Orchestra will be performing an enjoyable selection of music such as Boyce Symphony, Dodd Irish Idyll, Ireland Minuet and Elegy,Mozart F Major Divertimento, Vivaldi Concerto in B Minor for four violins, Anderson Plink!Plank!Plunk! Padstow Lifeboat, Arnold English Dances, Jacob Saxaphone Suite, Holst Suite, Beatles Medley - All in the Mill's riverside garden. Bring a picnic or enjoy a cream tea or refreshments available from Hampsire Fare members and others. There will also be craft stalls. Entry on payment of admission charge only.

12/13 July 10.30 - 4.30 Kennet Valley Guild of Spinners Weavers and Dyers will be demonstrating at the the Mill during normal opening hours, speak to the experts and be persuaded to learn a new skill.

Wednesday 23 July 7.30pm Jane Lemon MBE, the famous embroiderer and Chairman of the Sarum Group will be talking on Jane Lemon and the Sarum Group and their work at Salisbury Cathedral'. This complements our 'Robes and Raiments' exhibition which celebrates the 750th anniversary of the dedication of Salisbury Cathedral. Tickets £5.00 and £4.00 for Friends of Whitchurch Silk Mill.
Sunday 7 September 3pm Ecumenical church service in the silk mill grounds. Free admission

Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 September - Heritage Open Days. Entry will be free of charge. North Downs Lacemakers will be demonstrating each day.

Wednesday 17 September 7.30pm Tanya Elliot will present a talk 'Wedding Celebrations' at the Silk Mill. A fun and lively approach to weddings.

3 1st June - 31st August 'Robes and Raiments' an exhibition commemorating the 750th anniversary of the dedication of Salisbury Cathedral. 19th and 20th century vestments on loan from Salisbury Cathedral

31st August-1st November 'Embracing Lace' Lace old and modern displayed by North Downs Lace Makers

2 November-2 February 'The Christmas Delights of Looby Loo' Exquisitely made gifts by Louise Lavin
